You had me at hello

Seville

Tony Bennett left his heart in San Francisco but mine is firmly planted in Seville. Where to begin? Moved to tears with the spiritual and architectural sensory overload of the Seville Cathedral. Fascinated by the incredible history documented at Archivo de Indias, enthralled by the Plaza Despania. Thrilled by the kindness of the people and finally …had my breath taken away by the authentic performance of flamingo dancers and singers in an intimate theatre with front row seats.

Where to Stay

First impressions are always key on a trip and when we opened the doors to our stunning balcony at the Hotel Inglaterra, we knew we hit the jackpot. The massive terrace - you could practise a very long putt on - was only outmatched by the view of the Cathedral, which is situated 400 metres away. The hotel is located in the centre of the historic centre with endless dining and shopping choices all within walking distance. The hotel’s roof top terrace also offered incredible views as well as delicious cocktails.

Drink

A visit to a tasting bar is a must as Spain’s wine is spectacular. While there are many wine bars to choose from, we stumbled (even before drinking) upon Vinum Play Taste and Shop, a short walk from our hotel. It was truly a highlight of our visit to not only be exposed to a wide range of premium wines from numerous varietals and regions but to also share our experiences with locals who invited us to sit with them, sharing their gourmet tapas. There’s also a range of beer options if you are so inclined.

Until next time Seville..see you in 2026.
